The first four episodes - From Hell, Are We Not Men?, Tramps like Us, and Speech - all succeed on their absorb terms and have plenty of laughs. If you’re recent to the note and want to sample a 22-minute burst, then inaugurate with Friendface and reboot from there.

This is one of those amazingly comic shows that invent me laugh like crazy. It is definitely in my top 5 list!

While some episodes are funnier than others, each episode has at least one really excellent laugh in it. The type of stuff that you consume the next few days giggling about whenever you remember the scene. I honest really fancy it.

Hopefully, they will earn a fourth season, since I already miss it.

When I first saw this film in the theaters, I really didn’t like it. In fact, I was comely let down! I had grown up with Hasten From Unusual York, and to my alarm, John Carpenter remade his gain film! I’m not kidding, REMADE it. Fair down to Snake getting shot in the leg and limping for the last half of the film. Years later I revaluated my idea. You can’t fabricate a film as corny as this on accident, especially if you’re a conventional director like John Carpenter; It had to be done on purpose. I’ve read numerous interviews over the years and have found out two things, and I assume these two things are the reason this film ended up the procedure it did. First, John Carpenter hates sequels. He never wanted to produce sequels to his films. He never wanted a sequel to Halloween(let alone six! That’s why he produced Halloween 3 which people hated so powerful, coz he was trying to choose this series in a different direction and not retread the whole Michael Myers thing) . I also understand that both Carpenter and Kurt Russell were under alot of studio pressure to perform this film. I don’t know what kind of favor Carpenter owed the studio, but he made this film. And my theory is that he made this film intentionally awful to say to the studio, “There, I made the stinking sequel you wanted, don’t ask me to do it again!” I mean really, if he had wanted to obtain a sequel to Speed From Current York, don’t you deem he would have struck while the iron was hot and made it at the height of the first film’s success instead of waiting 15 years? Contemplate about it. When I reflect this scenario, I can observe Dash From L.A and have a beneficial laugh thinking that John Carpenter may have played a sizable joke on the Hollywood studios. Probably helps that I’ve watched it almost every year since it came out. The acting is qualified, especially from Scott. The costumes, scenery, and effects are astonishing as well, and they stick very terminate to the new legend. Also on Disc One is “Cricket on the Hearth.” Introduced by Danny Thomas and starring the voices of himself, his daughter Marlo, Roddy McDowall, Hans Conried, Paul Frees, and more, this 1967 traditionally racy special is a musical version of Charles Dickens’ classic. It’s the record of a toymaker and his daughter who encourage a edifying cricket that saves the day after the family falls on hard times. “Cricket on the Hearth” is a lesser known Rankin/Bass production and not as endearing as their bigger hits, but it is peaceful a nice holiday viewing you probably haven’t seen before.

Disc Two holds a classic that is nearly as beloved as Rudolph, “Cold the Snowman”. This 1969 classic is traditionally inviting and probably Rankin/Bass’s best work in 2D. The charming character designs, voices, music, and simple fable are absolutely unbelievable. Based on another classic song, this is the sage of a snowman that comes to life when the children who built him add a discarded magic hat. Unfortunately, snowmen can’t last forever unless they are in a spot that is always snowy, and the harmful Professor Hinkle, the frustrated magician who threw out his hat, wants the hat wait on now that he knows it holds dependable magical power! Hosted by an engaging Jimmy Durante, “Icy the Snowman” is such a treat that it even inspired three 2D sequels so far, though only “Frosty’s Winter Wonderland”, from the same creators and with Jackie Vernon attend as Frosty’s mutter, is really splendid. Disc Two also includes the only DVD bonus feature in this state, a Frigid pencil test.

Also on Disc Two is one of the more fresh and very disappointing sequels, “Cold Returns.” Truthfully, I don’t judge this can be called an official sequel, as I don’t assume Rankin/Bass had anything to do with this 1992 rip-off. Surprisingly, this one is from the creators of the amazing Peanuts specials, sans Charles Schultz, but it has none of that magic. “Chilly Returns”, which depicts a Icy voiced by John Goodman and with nothing in popular with the new aside from being made of snow, is hosted by an engaging (and for some reason limited) Jonathan Winters in an attempt to mimic the host-character style of the Rankin/Bass faves. He presents the epic of a town that is becoming snow-free thanks to a businessman’s spray can invention, “Summer Wheeze.” Cold and his friends go on a mission to present to the townsfolk that snow can actually be a well-behaved thing, but all in all it’s a anecdote that is handsome uninvolving and forgettable. What a shame they never couple the current Cool with “Frosty’s Winter Wonderland”. Unfortunately, you have to prefer the other boxed plot to procure that one.

Disc Three features what is, in my thought, the definitive version of how Santa became Santa. Well, along with “Santa Claus, the Movie” anyway. “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” is the name of the special, and it’s the third of the three big-name classics in this DVD place. The 1970 animagic film, hosted by a stop-motion Fred Astaire, gives us the account of Santa being left at the doorstep of a toymaking elf family when he was a baby, being raised by them and amongst the forest animals, going on missions to insist toys to the children of Sombertown, meeting Winter the warlock and Jessica, the future Mrs. Claus, and going up against the abominable Burgermeister Meisterburger. This charming capture on Santa’s origins includes the voices of Mickey Rooney as Santa Claus, Keenan Wynn as Winter, and the spacious Paul Frees in several roles. Like most Rankin/Bass holiday classics, this is based on a classic song.

The remaining two holiday specials are also included on Disc Three. They are the lesser known but serene powerful loved “The Runt Drummer Boy,” a somewhat sunless Rankin/Bass animagic chronicle from 1968 about an orphaned drummer boy who hates people and only loves his animal friends until a visit to the unique nativity scene shows him the light, and 1962’s “Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol,” which presents the classic, nearsighted cartoon character as an actor in a Broadway production of his occupy version of “A Christmas Carol.” Both specials are charming and appreciated inclusions in this DVD space.

Lastly, there’s the CD, which is a mixed bag of 7 Christmas songs. They include a very brief “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” from Burl Ives, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” from Bobby Rydell, “A Holly Jolly Christmas” from Burl Ives, “Silver and Gold” from Burl Ives, “Let it Snow” from Chicago, “Winter Wonderland” from Jewel, and “Merry Christmas Baby” from Otis Redding. The CD is an okay addition, but a 4th disc of more holiday specials or more DVD bonus features would have been preferred, or even a sterling soundtrack to one or more of the included specials.

Overall, this status is a must believe for the Christmas classics lover, and my only major complaint is how hard it is to pick the discs from the elegant packaging. I also highly recommend the following DVDs and DVD sets: Christmas Television Favorites (featuring other Rankin/Bass faves and the Grinch!), Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas, Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas, Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, Disney’s Classic Holiday Stories, Peanuts Classic Holiday Collection, The Pleased Elf, Garfield Holiday Celebrations, Elf, A Muppet Family Christmas, The Muppet Christmas Carol, Warner Bros. I plan it would be tough for Up to match the emotional power of Wall-E. The two Pixar films are similar in their lack of dialogue in the first act, which helps deepen the emotional impact. Up begins with Carl, a shrinking young boy star-struck by a celebrated explorer; and kookie Ellie, who has a similar obsession. The two kids become lickety-split friends, and screech to one day recede to Venezuela’s Paradise Falls. After getting married, they engage their dream home and fix it up, hoping to have it with children. Carl and Ellie’s life together from childhood through worn age is depicted, silently, with delicacy and subtlety. The first 15 minutes is like a celebration of a cheerful marriage, and you truly feel Carl’s afflict when he is left alone. He sits slumped in his chair, talking to the house as if it is the missing Ellie.

It’s a charming, fun shrimp adventure myth with flying dogs and balloon-powered houses, but underlying it is a bittersweet miniature chronicle about loss and like.

As a child, the troubled Carl Fredricksen bonded with the oddball Ellie over their shared fancy of adventure, the explorer Charles Muntz, and Paradise Falls. They later married, travel into their “clubhouse” together, and lived a long, sadly childless life together. When Ellie died, she had never fulfilled her dream of going to Paradise Falls.

Now crotchety, alone and harassed by a actual estate developer, Carl (Ed Asner) is finally ordered to a retirement home. But he isn’t going quietly — instead he attaches thousands of balloons to his house and floats it away toward South America. But he accidentally takes an eager, naive Wilderness Explorer (a thinly-veiled Boy Scout) named Russell (Jordan Nagai) along for the jog. Terrible kid was objective trying to net an “assisting the elderly” badge.

And the jungle rush to Paradise Falls turns out to have some surprising obstacles: a sizable emulike bird that Russell names Kevin, a talking dog named Dug (”I am jumping on you, bird!”), and a mysterious extinct man who lives deep in the heart of the jungle. Turns out the musty guy is very familiar to Carl — and to remove Kevin, he’s willing to sacrifice Carl and Russell.

Industry experts were babbling about how “Up” wouldn’t be as approved as the previous Pixar movies, because the protagonist is basically a crusty ragged coot. Well, shows what they know. It ended up becoming one of those classic movies that somehow appeals to all ages — while the humor and action appeal to children, adults can relish Carl’s like for his lost wife, and his dull realization that he’s clinging to the past.

And the utterly adorable Dug and the other dogs deserve special witness. These creatures are utterly hilarious — they talk (”I hid under your porch because I admire you”) and act the intention dogs would if they talked. Three words: cone of shame.

The two-disc edition is going to have some very nice extras, but once again people with regular-def DVDs are going to secure shafted because the Blu-ray edition will have a bunch of unusual stuff. Grr. As for this one, there’s a digital copy, the director’s audio commentary, kinda-alternate-ending “The Many Endings of Muntz,” and the documentary “Adventure Is Out There” about the research for this movie.

There are also a pair of adorable tantalizing shorts. “Partly Cloudy” has a much-abused stork having to verbalize potentially despicable baby creatures from a kind but clueless cloud. And “Dug’s Special Mission” is a sort of backstory for the adorable Dug, explaining what the heck he was doing before he met up with Carl and Russell.

“Up” continues Pixar’s running tally of gloriously inspiring, emotionally layered movies that the entire family can be pleased. With that, I have only one more thing to say… SQUIRREL!

Here’s a movie for dog lovers, the elderly, children of divorce, FOBs (Friends of Birds), obsolete Boy Scouts, people yearning for adventure, and anyone who has ever loved… and lost. Up is for everyone. It made me laugh out loud, and it made me wail.

I idea it would be tough for Up to match the emotional power of Wall-E. The two Pixar films are similar in their lack of dialogue in the first act, which helps deepen the emotional impact. Up begins with Carl, a insecure young boy star-struck by a notorious explorer; and kookie Ellie, who has a similar obsession. The two kids become swiftly friends, and explain to one day move to Venezuela’s Paradise Falls. After getting married, they select their dream home and fix it up, hoping to own it with children. Carl and Ellie’s life together from childhood through feeble age is depicted, silently, with delicacy and subtlety. The first 15 minutes is like a celebration of a overjoyed marriage, and you truly feel Carl’s injure when he is left alone. He sits slumped in his chair, talking to the house as if it is the missing Ellie.

When developers stop in on Carl’s beloved home, he decides to fulfill his promise to Ellie and disappear to Paradise Falls. A aged balloon vendor, Carl lifts his home with hundreds of luminous balloons. Stowing away on the porch is Russell, a chubby, fearless kid trying to accept a scouting badge.

After landing in Paradise Falls, the veteran man and the itsy-bitsy boy are joined by a golden retriever named Dug who can talk with his collar, and a sizable rare bird that bonds with Russell (he names her “Kevin”) . Dug is priceless: spot-on for every dog that ever lived, including an obsession with squirrels. Through a series of terminate calls and adventures, the quartet vanquishes a villain, saving the day. And Russell earns his scouting badge.

In the process, Carl learns to let go of his dismal mourning for Ellie, and live life again. When this happens, a truly magical thing happens. Before, Carl’s craggy face is gray and monochromatic. At the moment of his transformation, Carl’s face is awash in color, and he is surrounded by sparkling hues. It reminded me of The Wizard of Oz, when Dorothy steps out of her gray world and into a candy-colored Munchkinland. Carl, too, enters a whole current world.

Up is a deeply emotional film, paunchy of truth. It’s the year’s best film. Gain another triumph for Pixar.

And the jungle sprint to Paradise Falls turns out to have some surprising obstacles: a tall emulike bird that Russell names Kevin, a talking dog named Dug (”I am jumping on you, bird!”), and a mysterious ragged man who lives deep in the heart of the jungle. Turns out the faded guy is very familiar to Carl — and to choose Kevin, he’s willing to sacrifice Carl and Russell.

Industry experts were babbling about how “Up” wouldn’t be as approved as the previous Pixar movies, because the protagonist is basically a crusty ragged coot. Well, shows what they know. They were carve. No explanation. Please send a message to the hacks at Lionsgate and refrain from purchasing this travesty. What a titanic film being so sorely treated. You would reflect the idiotic hide art would be sufficient insult to Huston’s final masterpiece.

Do not engage this video if you do not appreciate movies made with delicacy and wistful heart-broken — it is short, has no accurate situation and features no special effects. Yet this movie stands as one of the best ever — it weaves a spell over you, and captivates your every sense. We are treated to the visual trimmings of a holiday feast, along with the Irish folk music that will, fair when you least seek information from it, turn your expectations upside down. The spirited characterizations of every player in this movie bring it to smart life; it’s as if you have entered a Christmas card, and can taste, smell and feel everything around you. That James Joyce’s narrative revolves essentially around a simple, but devastating revelation, is what makes it colorful. So many times in this movie the positive gives device to more specific visions: as one of the many, many gleaming ladies speaks at her party, we are brought inside a bedroom, where we linger with the camera on objects — represent frames, combs, etc., that spark the imagination and underscore the proceedings with a singluar clarity. Angelica Huston is magically compelling, and the final monologue, delivered with subtle power, will haunt your memory.

I only discovered this movie about four years ago but have watched it every Christmas since. To me it’s the best version of the Christmas Carol ever made, and now it gets the best treatment you could have ever hoped for. This two disc collector’s edition contains two different versions of this movie. First is the colorized version, but then the second is the valid treat. They went help to the novel prints of this and worked from there. After carefully removing the skips, scratches, and jerky frames, they digitally restored the movie to a version that looks as if it were made yesterday! The sound has been changed to 5.1 digital surround, and there’s even a widescreen version for 16:9 televisions.

The special features include an earlier version of Christmas Carol (not as first-rate as this one), as well as several featurettes on the movie, interviews with the stars, a feature on Alistair Sim, and others.

Although this 1951 classic film takes some liberties with the Dicken’s modern, it remains the film most faithful to the new legend. Some of the sets and costumes were directly inspired by the memorable illustrations in the first edition of the book. Alastair Sim is very convincing as the miserly Scrooge who, after a gruesome night of ghostly visits, is transformed into a man who knows how to sustain Christmas in his heart.

There have been many DVD editions of this holiday well-liked in modern years, several of them from VCI Entertainment. In this package, VCI has included some things featured on previous releases (commentary, Dickens biography, etc.), but the actual star of this residence is the beautifully restored version of the sad and white film. According to a short feature on the restoration of the film, VCI has finally been able to derive film elements from the modern master. Apparently they didn’t have access to a complete master, so they aged several of the best prints they could glean and digitally read them to settle which frames were the best available. The rest was cleaned up by hand. It sounds like a labor of esteem, and the result is visible on the mask. The restored print is available in 4×3 and 16×9 in 1:37:1 format. (According to the Amazon product description page, the aspect ratio is given as 1:87 and elsewhere as 1:33, the DVD box says 1:37.) There are a few seconds of less than pristine audio, but overall this is a handsome pains.

A nice touch I’ve never seen on a DVD before is an optional audio track for the blind, in which a narrator describes the action on the camouflage pausing for dialog from the actors. A wandering commentary track with Marcus Heard and George Cole (young Scrooge) is included. Powerful of the commentary is reprised in a feature interview by Heard in which Cole reminisces about Alastair Sim, “Spirit of Christmas Past.” The audio is in English only. Subtitles are in English or Spanish.

The second disc offers the fresh 1935 Seymour Hicks’ film version of the anecdote. A colorized version of the 1951 film is also included on Disc 2; the brief introduction by Patrick McNee (young Marley) has been seen before on previous releases of the colorized version. There are also theatrical trailers from the UK release (”Scrooge”) and the US release (”A Christmas Carol”) .

VCI has given us a shapely package here. They’ve done a titanic job with the restoration of a film care for. Many viewers will never have seen such a profitable print of this holiday well-liked before. The bonus features are a nice inclusion, but the restoration is the exact reason to collect this edition. Highly recommended!
