It’s been something like five and a half years since we last saw Jason Voorhees in the theater. So was it worth the wait? Does the remake measure up to the rest of the franchise? Is it a remake worth seeing at all? Does it continue the trend with 2009 being a strong year for the anxiety genre? The short acknowledge to all of these questions is yes.

I’ve always been partial to the Friday the 13th franchise. Jason Voorhees has always been my celebrated when it comes slasher films. So I was beyond exasperated by the time this hit theaters. The film opens with a flashback that chronicles what would be the ending to the current film. Jump to the indicate day. The film definitely delivers in all of the elements that originate up the formula to a Friday the 13th film. There’s plenty of T&A and sex for any sexhound. I haven’t seen any R-rated film with this grand nudity and sexual assure in quite a while. The kills are also stunning pleasant for a Friday fan. I believe Trent’s death is probably the most memorable, but I’m partial to Amanda’s death because it was an enthralling twist on the sleeping bag demolish. Officer Bracke’s demolish was also a current of mine. Then, of course, there’s Jason’s death. It’s racy since it seems definite how things are going to turn out for Jason, but it winds up happening in a round-a-bout plan. Something is thrown in there to throw the audience off and that not many would behold coming. Kind of like a, “Oh, maybe he’ll die this diagram instead,” kind of thing. Thinking serve on it, it also felt like a throwback to one of the earlier sequels, which is shapely chilly.

My one complaint is that it seemed like it was hard to peep what was going on in sure scenes. The camera would be too shaky or scenes wouldn’t have enough lighting and be too sad. It’s really a minor complaint though as it usually only lasted a few seconds when it did occur.

So, all in all, I feel like it was well worth the wait for this film. I am really hoping it does well because I would welcome sequels with launch arms. The remake follows the Friday the 13th formula extremely well. Suitable down to the ending. I guess the only thing that’s not like some of the previous sequels is the acting, which seems to be top notch for a slasher film. As a Friday the 13th fan, I’m more than joyful with the remake. To assure the truth, it was honest nice to stare a film with Jason Voorhees in theaters again.

3.5 - The first time I viewed the film I didn’t really care for it too powerful but after I watched it again I really ended up enjoying it. Its a ample ode to all the other friday the 13th films and they did a small history lesson at the beginning which I concept was frigid especially if somebody hasn’t seen the others. Reading through all these people bashing these movies has me shaking my head. Really what can you demand out of television movies about Ewoks? To criticize these movies as being too childish is like criticizing the smurfs for being blue.

These movies were made for kids and not the people like me who saw the novel STAR WARS movies in the theater as a kid but are now in their 30s. Really though to be able to accept two movies on DVD for about half the note of a tank of gas to me sounds like an okay deal. One brilliant place in these movies are some quite ambitious special effects (for TV at least) .

I have seen both of these movies a dozen times & I care for them. Up until the Clone Wars cartoon, I refered to the Battle For Endor as the best non star wars star wars. I level-headed delight in them. I recommend getting them & enjoying them with the whole family. Putting them as a double feature is a vast view (is it too noteworthy to hope for commentaries or featurettes too? ), but my only expect is this… why no third one? It seems like a wonderful understanding & Cindel promised Wicket she’d return. I guess 20 years is a long time to wait for another one. Maybe if they let me write it… Anyway, gargantuan packaging & I can’t wait for the 23rd. Incredible movies!

The fable is quite violent, depicting gushing blood and severed limbs and heads, but it is also a well-told and inspiring one that is unpredictable and depicted in a extraordinary graphical style with a ample soundtrack. I can’t relate on the quality of the English negate acting in this series as I very rarely notion any anime in its dubbed version. For me, a sizable portion of the magic of the anime medium is how the Japanese direct actors/actresses bring their characters to life and through their skill endow them with individual personalities.

My wife and I have been vast Wallace and Gromit fans for a while now. My wife especially thinks that Shaun the sheep is adorable. One day we saw this playing somewhere and I made a mental trace of it to notice for it on Amazon. I found this video some time later when I remembered, and ordered it as a Christmas Note. The movie is astronomical, fair like all of the other Aardman productions. One thing that really sets it apart is that there really isn’t any dialogue, but threre isn’t any needed because the whole thing is so well done. This movie is highly recommended to anyone who likes movies like Wallace and Gromit. I am hoping they continue to beget more adventures so we can add them to our collection as well.

The cream of France’s cinema sirens star in the deliciously candy-colored 8 Femmes, a murder mystery speckled with ornate performances that play up the public image of the actresses themselves. Eight women find themselves snowbound in a house with a dead man–a man each of them (his wife, sister, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, daughters, housekeeper, and chambermaid) had reason to kill. Secrets tumble forth, accusations fly, catfights flare, and confrontations turn steamy, all accompanied by campy performances of 1960s French pop songs. At first, these musical numbers seem like pure kitsch, comic and entertaining, but over the movie’s course, they become strangely touching. Catherine Deneuve, Danielle Darrieux, Virginie Ledoyen, Fanny Ardant, Emmanulle Beart, Isabelle Huppert, Ludivine Sagnier, and Firmine Richard are all superb, investing their cardboard characters with a strange emotional resonance–and their costumes are exquisite. Perhaps the highest compliment you can pay to Edward Norton is that his Oscar-nominated performance in American History X nearly convinces you that there is a shred of logic in the tenets of white supremacy. If that statement doesn’t horrify you, it should; Norton is so fully immersed in his role as a neo-Nazi skinhead that his character’s eloqunt defense of racism is disturbingly persuasive–at least on the surface. Looking lean and mean with a swastika tattoo and a mind full of hate, Derek Vinyard (Norton) has inherited racism from his father, and that learning has been intensified through his service to Cameron (Stacy Keach), a grown-up thug playing tyrant and teacher to a growing band of disenfranchised teens from Venice Beach, California, all hungry for an ideology that fuls their brooding alienation.

The film’s basic message–that hate is learned and can be unlearned–is expressed through Derek’s kid brother, Danny (Edward Furlong), whose sibling hero-worship increases after Derek is imprisoned (or, in Danny’s mind, martyred) for the killing of two black men. Lacking Derek’s gift of rebel rhetoric, Danny is easily swayed into the violent, hateful lifestyle that Derek disowns during his thoughtful time in prison. Once released, Derek struggles to save his brother from a violent fate, and American History X partially suffers from a mix of intense emotions, awkward sentiment, and predictably inevitable plotting. And yet British director Tony Kaye (who would later protest against Norton’s creative intervention during post-production) manages to juggle these qualities–and a compelling clash of visual styles–to considerable effect. No matter how strained their collaboration may have been, both Kaye and Norton can be proud to have created a film that addresses the issu of racism with dramatically forceful impact. –Jeff Shannon
